Die Phantasialand-Chronik (Part 5: 2001 bis 2010) | #PHLHistory | PHL-Infos

Welcome to the fifth part of the Phantasialand chronicles. In this part we deal with the period from 2001 to 2010. Have fun. Wuze Town and its two spinning coasters "Winja's Fear" and "Winja's Force" are supposed to be the first innovation of the new millennium but the 1st of May 2001 stops the park's plans for the time being. Grand-Canyon-Bahn, Gebirgsbahn and Tanagra theater are destroyed in a big fire. The opening of Wuze Town is delayed and the construction of the first theme hotel has to be put on hold. In the same year Space Center is transformed into the Temple of the Night Hawk. One year late, Wuze Town opens its gates and offers two spinning coasters and a paratower to the guests. The fire removal measures also take place. A rapid river called "River Quest" is built on the site of the two destroyed coasters and the Tanagra theater is replaced by a mad house called "Feng Ju Palace". At the end of the year the first winter season is held at Phantasialand.

Wuze Town is extended by a children's area which provides seven new rides for the youngest visitors. In the outdoor zone of the theme area Octowuzy shows the first signs of today's Wuze-Tal. However, the larger investment takes place in China Town. The park opens its first theme hotel which is called "PhantAsia". With the two new rides "Wözls Wassertreter" and "Wuzi's Going Up" the offer of Wuze Town is expanded again. Next to Silverado theatre the park opens a new overnight accommodation called Smokey's Digger Camp. However, there are also cutbacks in this season: Crazy Loop is closed. Moreover, from now on Phantasialand visitors have to dispense with the Cristallion restaurant that is converted into the Fantissima theater. In the winter season the flights to the fictional planet Siantapha are replaced by a race for the favor of Atlantis. The movie is changed and the building is redesigned.

From now on the ride is called "Race for Atlantis". Phantasialand invites its visitors on a trip to Africa. The Inverted Coaster "Black Mamba", Djembe Musikschule, the Miji African Dancers as well as Baobab Snack and Kilamba Shop are located on an area of 15,000 m². Because of these innovations the dismantling of Condor is hardly recognized. The location of Condor is now used for Talocan. It is a Mexican themed suspended top spin in which visitors experience the power of the wrathful god of the universe. In addition Wuze-Tal is supplemented by Wirtl's Taubenturm that is a pull-up tower by Heege. The African themed hotel Matamba which costs 16 million euros is opened.

Smokey's Digger Camp is moved to the other side of the road. The park is also beginning to change in other places: Phantasialand-Jet is dismantled and the Neptune Fountain is removed. With the introduction of the six dragons the park is divided into fixed theme areas for the first time. In the meantime restructuring is beginning in Alt Berlin. The Brandenburg Gate is demolished, the Phantie parade is cancelled and replaced by "Drakar'ium". In return children get two new rides called "Bolles Flugschule" and "Bolles Riesenrad".

The carousel is moved to the main entrance. Moreover the water shooter Wakobato is opened in May. After almost four decades Gondelbahn and Walzertraum are torn down at the end of the summer season. Wuze-Tal is completed by six new rides for children and families. In the Berlin theme area construction work on Kaiserplatz is started. That was the fifth part of the Phantasialand chronicles.
