How do I play in 7/8?

how do i play in 78 well there are a couple of different ways of counting it you can count in quarter notes and eighth notes we should be one and two and three and four one and two and three and four one and two and three and four one and two and three and four one or you can count in eighth notes which is just counting numbers one two seven one two three four five six seven one two three four five six seven one two three four five six seven one so to play accounting both those different ways if I start off with the quarter and half beat it would be one and two and three and four one and two and three and four one and two and three and four one and two and three one and if I were to count just using the eighth notes it would be I let 123456 123456 123456 123456 a lot of germs like to have the hi-hat beat in 78 because seven is an odd number that means that you'll play the hi-hat and beats one three five and seven in the first measure 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and on 2 4 and 6 on a second measure make sure that you still accent the same kick and snare beats you did before this should make the hi-hat beats in the second measure feel offbeat to these are the two measures together one two three four five six you need to make sure to do that otherwise the feel will change if you put the accents on the hi-hat beat the kick and snare sound like they're now between the main beats overall instead of sounding like two bars of 78 it will sound like one bar of 74 which sound like this so technically you're playing the same things in the same places but the feel is is different because of where the accents are okay I hope that helps you
