Jonfoly Djembe ● Transitioning from Slow to Fast Wolosodon ● Mali Djembe & Dunun Lesson w/ Mariam

There is something I’d like to clear up for people There isn’t just one WOLOSO dance We dance the slow version first After we’ve danced that for a while then we speed it up But, this is all part of the WOLOSO dance You can’t say that only the first part is “WOLOSODON” WOLOSODON Includes the fast version we show you in this lesson (sings dunun part) This fast version is also WOLOSODON Some may call the fast version “JONFOLY” And the slow version “WOLOSODON” But it’s not like that It is all WOLOSOFOLY (or WOLOSODON) Some call this JONFOLY Some say JONFOLY, some say WOLOSOFOLY It's the same thing Just with slow and fast versions I hope you get a lot from this knowledge See you next time Love you, love you May God be with you in your learning!

Jonfoly Djembe ● Transitioning from Slow to Fast Wolosodon ● Mali Djembe & Dunun Lesson w/ Mariam

Jonfoly djembe lesson...In Mali, WOLOSO (AKA JONDON or JONFOLY) is often played in two parts. In this video, Mariam shows us how to transition from the slow version to the fast version. WOLOSO is a dance of the WOLOSO caste of people in Mali. Mariam tells us that the entire piece is actually called WOLOSODON, not just the slow or the fast part. This video is from Mariam Diakite’s online school, MALIAN DANCE FOR EVERY BODY. Like Malian djembe? Want to learn to solo for dance?
