INFO:
Moribayassa is a rhythm of the Malinke people of Guinea. It is danced by the women to celebrate the overcoming of a difficult problem. When having a health, fertility, or other issue of unclear solution, a Malinke woman would pray for it to solve: "if a solution to this problem comes, I will dance the Moribayassa".
For this celebration, the woman would dress as if she was careless or mad. She would wear male old, broken clothes, undo her hair and let it be wild, tie some shoes to her head,... Then, the celebrating woman would parade the village, followed by all the other women of the community and the drummers playing Moribayassa.
The ritual would finish with the woman changing back into her normal appearance, and the burning of the old clothes.

PATTERNS & DRUM-ALONG:
At the beginning of the video there is an introduction and short practise of four separated drum lines that appear in the Moribayassa rhythm. The tutorial then gives way to the drum-along track, starting with an introduction to how the lines sit in the groove, and then continuing first at slow speed, then fast, and then faster.

SPEEDING UP:
If you feel comfortable with a certain speed and would like to practise faster, you can let the rhythm help you with that. The transitions, "Slow to Fast" and "Fast to Faster", accelerate over 3-4 minutes, to slowly arrive and settle at a new, faster tempo. Just go to the end of the chapter at the tempo you're comfortable with, drum along the transition and see how you hold.
