Motor vehicle accidents claim the lives of many.
90% of accidents is caused by human error.
The biggest risk in road accident is us.
Sierra Leone as in other countries have seen their fair share of road and vehicle accidents.
Every occurrence sparks a knee jerk reaction and dies as suddenly as it had erupted-
The Breakdown or the safety and security of petroleum tankers and other trucks on our Highways is common. In the last 3 years there has been similar accidents involving fuel tanker accidents in Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, DR Congo and Tanzania.
All with similar casualties involving people especially commercial bike riders trying to siphon fuel when these accidents occur.

Tonight we host a Sierra Leonean with international repute on road and vehicle safety. He is a road traffic specialist, AN ENGINEER and a campaigner for road safety.

Engineer Victor Ako Mengot has spent over two decades working for various international agencies including a consultancy with the world bank to help improve transport safety and security in Africa with emphasis in East Africa and West Africa. He is currently working on a project on how to improve transport infrastructure and safety in collaboration with GoSL and other relevant agencies in Sierra Leone.
