Alright here we go, a new video finally! Ah! what have I been doing!? Today, let's learn something cool. My last video was a cajon duo with this guy, Matt. He's got these insane cajon drum and bass chops. There's no way I could imitate what he's playing. I thought I'd do what I normally do and try and try and translate a little bit of the general concept into something else that I can play and something that I can share with you guys. So! We'll use the finger roll technique because I enjoy that.
We're going to see how efficiently we can use that to create a drum and bass beat. So let's check that out now I play it first for you nice and fast And then we'll slow it down, break it down And find out how to do it. Alright, see you guys in a sec. So most of that beat is pretty straight forward The main thing that makes it what it is is those 6 strokes in the middle you've got 2 on the left hand 2 on the right hand and then bass, snare. And that's really the main ingredient in that beat.
So let's see if we can just practice that, "dada dada boom bap"… You don't have to do it with your hands in the air like a weirdo like me but but I can't fit it all in one shot. So I'll demonstrate that for you now And then we'll work on how that fits together. So there you go, there's the groove. It's pretty basic but once you get that technique going It means that you can speed up without having to work your hands too hard. You can use those smaller, more efficient muscels that we've got conveniently placed in our fingers. Ah so there you go! And that brings us to the end of this video I hope you guys got something out of it experiment around with that a little bit and see what kind of beats that you can come up with! So I should probably end this video.
