I'm going to talk about some volume stuff,
some technique stuff, some hand stuff, some independence stuff. A step by step way of hearing the sound that
you're playing, and settling in on one thing, for a long time, and making sure that, you
know…things are striking at the correct time. Your balance is in line, and in sync. That your limbs are in unison, and in sync. It's going to be six different permutations
of starting with your right hand, and going around your other limbs, in beats 2, 3, 4.
So, then you could improvise maybe moving
your hands around to different surfaces, but the same idea. If you're interested in playing swing, and
if you're primarily a jazz drummer, once you feel that distance between the notes, equal.. You feel that kind of thing translate into
your time playing, so it's not just an independence exercise, but it's really a feel exercise,
as well.
