Brad Dutz Hybrid Drum Kit Lesson 1

This hybrid kit here is basically what I take
to most of my gigs. It's combining a drumset concept with all these world instruments.
Bass in the middle, tone on the side, then you can also do slaps like on a conga slap.
You can do a cajon slap. If I don't want my traditional swing snare drum. You need a flat
hand with the tone, really flat. And how my fingers are creating that sound. So by thinking
of triplets all the time, my feel is swinging now. But if I'm playing lighter, especially
behind a bass solo, I'm going to go. Just the finger tips, maybe up to the first knuckle.
When I'm pressing against the head or releasing, I'm changing the pitch of the pandeiro.

Which
is part of how the instrument is played. A whole bunch of different patterns where you
change the order. If you have other options, you know, try to expand the sound of the ensemble..
